Our Privacy Policy & Philosophy

Unlike most of the internet services you're familiar with, Tripsitter takes a minimalist approach to privacy. We intend to keep the amount of personal information we need and keep to just enough to do what is needed to function (i.e. to find you a Trip Sitter). We have this philosophy for two main reasons:

  1. The last thing you want to be doing while tripping is worrying about something like your data.
  2. Tripsitter is a free service and databases are expensive.

We take measures to use the most up-to-date methods to allow Tripsitter to run while prioritizing your privacy. For our website that is pretty simple. We don't store your data on Tripsitter.io, period. However, because we integrate with social media platforms like Discord, this generally takes the form of ephemeral messages and interactions, which is intended to be private between you and the bot (and the bot is just there to actually find you a Trip Sitter).

Keep in mind some of these ephemeral features are still in a primitive state so it's impossible to make everything in this form currently. However, personal channels were made to be places for you to interact with Tripsitter privately. We will always wipe all messages and interactions and delete your personal channel whenever you leave the Discord server. Returning users will have a new fresh one be made. Again, this is mostly for technological reasons and limitations, but it should give you plenty of assurance about your privacy.

We will never, under any circumstances, use your data for profit. At some point, we may end up partnering with non-profit foundations such as Johns Hopkins Center for Psychedelic & Consciousness Research or the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), which could use your experiences to further psychedelic research and usage in medicine. However, even with this, these would be opt-in choices only.

If at any point you want to throw us a request to ensure that all your data is wiped clean, please contact us. We're probably just going to reply with "we didn't save any information about you in the first place", but if it gives you peace of mind, then go right ahead!
